‘Progress is never perfect’
I often record and share our dogs progress days apart. Not because it’s perfect. Sometimes it isn’t even good; or I’m stuck somewhere in the process. But it doesn’t have to be perfect as long as there is progress.
I don’t pretend to know everything; because I don’t. But I also don’t want to spend energy acting like everything is rosie posie. Some dogs are beasts, some push us, and some make us think if I ever die doing this then such and such dog was involved.
Billie Richardson once said ‘In every champions barn, there is a dog that didn’t work out.’
There are dogs that teach us more than others. You can’t gloss over those dogs. I’ve seen dogs that everyone and their uncle Pete said wasn’t worth salt; to see them proven wrong. Facts are no matter what someone says, your dog is a good dog. Don’t be afraid to share your progress because progress is never perfect. Not all dogs are gonna be rockstars. But your progress and theirs is the benchmark for your success.
